Dr. Mehmet Oz partnered up with USANA a while back and has now recently promoted USANA's products on his Doctor Oz Show. According to USANA's president Kevin Guest, USANA pays Dr. Oz an annual fee to advertise USANA products on the show. I believe this is akin to Oz being a paid spokesman for USANA. Dr. Oz uses his stature in the medical industry as a means to get his audience to trust him and the products advertised on his program, whether the products are effective or not. Since he's paid by the manufacturers of product he promotes on his show, it might as well be considered peddling.
USANA is required to put on the label of their supplements "This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease", so it makes it against the law for USANA (or its distributors) to advertise as such. The way around this is to have someone other than USANA or its distributors make all the health claims. That is where Dr. Oz fits in (as well as The Comparitive Guide To Nutritional Supplements).
Interestingly enough, I am not the only one who thinks Dr. Oz is a quack. On April 15, 2015, ten doctors from around the country have signed a letter to Columbia University demanding Oz be removed from their faculty. The letter reads as follows:
Lee Goldman, M.D.
Dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine Columbia University Dear Dr. Goldman: I am writing to you on behalf of myself and the undersigned colleagues below, all of whom are distinguished physicians. We are surprised and dismayed that Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons would permit Dr. Mehmet Oz to occupy a faculty appointment, let alone a senior administrative position in the Department of Surgery. As described here and here, as well as in other publications, Dr. Oz has repeatedly shown disdain for science and for evidence-based medicine, as well as baseless and relentless opposition to the genetic engineering of food crops. Worst of all, he has manifested an egregious lack of integrity by promoting quack treatments and cures in the interest of personal financial gain. Thus, Dr. Oz is guilty of either outrageous conflicts of interest or flawed judgements about what constitutes appropriate medical treatments, or both. Whatever the nature of his pathology, members of the public are being misled and endangered, which makes Dr. Oz's presence on the faculty of a prestigious medical institution unacceptable. Sincerely yours, Henry I. Miller, M.D. Robert Wesson Fellow in Scientific Philosophy & Public Policy Hoover Institution Stanford University Stanford, CA Scott W. Dr. Oz plans to rebuttal this claim about being a quack on one of his upcoming shows, likely this Thursday April 23. Once the show airs, I'll update this posting with his official response.

You know, I sometimes don't know what is the purpose of this site.
ReplyDeleteI mean if the purpose is to educate people so they can also see 'the other side' and then decide if they want to do it, that's fine and it's doing a great job.
But if the purpose is to break down USANA, but making less people sign up to zero or just bring down USANA, I doubt that it will have any affect.
The company still exist after over 20 years and all MLM which are scams and really illegal, are already down and stopped working within the first 5 years. Few will make it pass 5 years if it is illegal and by the time it's 10-15 years, it's pretty much legit.
Only time you can bring it down is to make the govt to come in and say 'hey, no more MLM'. If that happens you will a greater force from all the distributors of not just USANA but other companies like Herballife, Amway, market America, fighting the government than this tiny dingy site.
Plus the govt will lose a lot of tax revenue from the high income earners. They already have past cases against herballife and Amway and the final conclusion is that MLM is allowed and legit.
That is why it entertaining and amusing to me and made me smirk when people on this site or anywhere say 'oh when usana comes down don't be crying home,..blah'. You might be 30 years old now and when you are a really old lady walking on a crane and Usana and mlm is still there 'blossoming'. (Amway still exist hope you know..and that's from 1970s)
Remember the life of MLM products is that it will blossom and when it becomes saturateds, it will diminished and then another 5 years or so go by, you will have new flux of buyer who are newer generations or immigrants. So it will never die. Good luck with your venture of breaking down usana cr-p and mlm cr-p.
You Know
ReplyDeleteSometimes I just don't understand the comments on this blog.
I can' tell whether your are the "fooler" or the "foolee".
I can tell you:
If you read this blog you would know the purpose is to expose a pyramid scheme.
Usana is running a triple threat scam. It cheating its distributors by selling a phoney business opportunity. It is duping the public making outlandish representations.about the products. It is conning its shareholders by operating the Company for the insiders.
Do you know who was put into your up-line today?
It cheating its distributors by selling a phoney business opportunity. It is duping the public making outlandish representations.about the products. It is conning its shareholders by operating the Company for the insiders.
ReplyDeleteYou know, with the exception of 1st sentence, the rest of this sentence can be applied to ANY products and companies out there. Sunbeam by the ruthless Al Dunlap was an example. So can be a company which the Operating System you are using right now - Microsoft, where their software eats up memory when Steve Balmer made a commercial selling how good Microsoft OS is. It can be your comestic company also. So I don't see any original argument that you are making... except for number statement number 1. By the way, Amazon has this associate program where you can make money too so Amazon is a scam too by your definition. In fact almost everything in this world to you is a scam, then.. might as well be a hermit in this globe or better way, go become a non-profit farmer so that you grow your own food and isolate yourself from everyone and make your own clothes and fix your own car.
Oh I forgot to add, forget about a car or a bike.. you should just walk, because bikes or cars are created by the companies which "dupes the public make outlandish representation about their products (look at the number of recalls) and it's conning the shareholders by operating the Company for the insiders"..the CEO and top people in the company makes the most.. just like any pyramid scheme.
ReplyDeleteYeah, in other words you should live in area51. LOL
You should be awarded Mr. non-sense. The point of this blog is to ecpose
DeleteYou should be awarded Mr. Obvious or Mr. Clueless. This blog is obviously to expose..but there are MANY blogs out there that exposes MLM didn't you know that? Also like I said previously on the first post , if this blog is to let other people see the other side, that's fine and it's doing a good job.. that my clueless friend, is still call exposure.
DeleteBut you can expose all you want. You cannot bring down MLM or in this specific case USANA..unless the product is truly defective. So that is why I said, if this site is to let other see the other side, that's fine.. but to try to break down USANA, maybe wait for another maybe 30 years or so.. good luck.
You dumbass. How can USANA lose money if they make 90 cents on the dollar?
ReplyDeleteWhy not send us a screenshot of your downline management system and we'll make a point.
Their stock just stock up $23.. to 20% gain to $140.
DeleteI doubt USANA will go away. meanwhile their distributors are making money with the stock while we complain about it.
Don't feel bitter.. it will not go away. Just admit right.
In other news: The pride of Manila, Manny Pacquiao has a record of 3-3 since taking USANA Manny Pak. Seems like this Health Pak has no real benefits... @Watchdog, maybe you can research further on Manny Pak and / or Healthpak
ReplyDeleteThat's a stoopid statement and shows how illogical and ignorant you are. You say that out loud and people will laugh at your face unless you are against usana. So what if he was 4-2 or 5-1. He is 36 years old and his specialty is speed and combos, if you ever watch boxing. Anyone knows that your speed and power decreases as you age past your prime of 20s. Don't blame a vitamin for his lost. It's like blaming an apple for his lost..
DeleteDoes USANA work as a product? There are more than enough testimonies and research to validate that. No product is actually released until there is sufficient evidence confirmed by blood samples that the product atually has a benefit.
ReplyDeleteDoes USANA work as a business? Are there people that have achieved success in USANA? Absolutely.
Does everyone make enough to replace their income? Of course the answer is "No". Perhaps only the top 1%...but out of those who get their real estate license, how many sell even one house? Look that one up. The real question would be how many people truly treat it as a business? I would venture to say the answer is close to 1%-2% max (that is the same with all network marketing)
Listen, this can go on and on and I can honestly say that I don't run into people that truly believe USANA is a scam and I could care less if I ever do. I don't have to prove anything to anyone. If you think it's a scam, who really cares. If your goal is to deter others from USANA, then that is unfortunate...but you certainly have a right to free speech. I find only those that have insecurities, or are by nature very negative, will visit or even believe the information on this site. I really don't need to work with anyone like that unless they have a strong desire to change. They can join your online band.
To all those who understand the value USANA brings, stop responding to people who will never change their mind (as I just did). Your time will be better spent fishing for salmon in a residential pond.
Nice post. But I like to respond to those people who will never change their minds. I am a devil's advocate and will always welcome to listen to the other side to see what else they can come up with to a point where they will crack because their statement stop making sense or panic or shut up. This goes both ways for me. So for this site, I like to see what they can come up with for exposing USANA, so I will play the USANA advocate. But for other USANA distributors espeically top ones, I like to see what LOGICAL pros (not just oh people say or other stories) about USANA, so I will play the 'paralegal' role in questioning their statements. It's also a way to learn because perspectives are all expose and opened up. In fact, I learned about USANA and human body more by being against it at first and realized sometimes I can be wrong..but have an open mind. But at the end after all facts, one will end up be leaning on one side despite by a devils advocate.
DeleteYou should see the distributors face and reaction , even the gold directors ones where I questioned them. They get defensive, wow, do they get defensive.(some just also shut up and ignore you because they don't know) but when even in fact I just want to see if they know their stuff and why they so believe into it. Same with the haters, haters just shuts up after a while and say 'IT'S A SCAM BLAH.' WITHOUT real supporting evidence. In other words, 50% haters all sound like little kids at the end because they have not supporting evidence that it is a scam, but that's all they can say... the rest will shut up and ignore me and will try to disassociated with me (like the believers). It's an interesting psychological experiment or event.
But I agree that like you said, at the end regardless if you win those arguments or experimenting with believers and haters mind, ignore them and careless about them and believe in what you believe in.
And btw, I doubt haters will make a dent to USANA. So haters will be bitter.. just take a look at their stocks!!! (and don't give me enron cr-p).

well, Dr. Oz gave a pretty good rebuttal quite some time ago but i see no rebuttal...
ReplyDeleteAnyone who wastes time exposexposing usaba when they have never seen outside the small box of online media or even tried to talk to anyanyone who has had legitimate real life experience with us an should just get a life. This website will make 0 difference. And it's probably dead already and probably has been for 2 years. Bye
